Why am I sharing this report?
This monthly report is created for you…but very much for me as well. I won’t lie about that. By documenting the struggles I face as well as the successes as a business owner each month, I’m able to provide you with a single resource that tells you what’s working, what’s not, what’s possible and honestly, a view behind the scenes.
There is a lot of hard work and learning that takes place to keep growing as an entrepreneur, business owner and person…especially in the early stages.
Following your progress along the way allows us to check-in on our own health as well as our businesses. From there, we can make the appropriate adjustments to keep growing in the right direction.
I’ve learned (and continue to learn) from so many amazing people along the way. They’ve passed on their knowledge and experience and I intend to do the same.
If I can help you grow through sharing this journey, then I know I’ll grow as well. Teaching and sharing is one of the key ingredients to growth. that’s what this report is about.
Ok, lets dive in to Zero to $20k/month – March Report.
We brought on a total of three new clients.
Two came from a local agency partnership. Going through agencies is not my ideal path for bringing on new clients but I figured I’d explore how this partnership works out to assess if it’s something I should pursue in the future.
The third came from my outbound email efforts and it led to a a free consultation and that conversation led to two or more calls before a proposal was accepted.
All of this happened in the first two weeks of March.
I knew that I’d lose some momentum with two conferences to attend at the end of the month.
One of the ways in which I plan to get in front of my prospects is to speak. I had the chance to speak at Social Media Marketing World 2015 in San Diego which led to two more prospects that I’ve started having conversations with already.
I love heading to San Diego because I get to hang out and connect with my good friends like John Lee Dumas, Pat Flynn, Rick Mulready, Caleb Wojcik, Rich Brooks, Amy Schmittauer and more. Here is a pic of us having a good time!
I also went to ICON which is Infusionsoft’s annual conference. I went to this show purely for learning purposes as I am an Infusionsoft customer and want to leverage it more to handle inbound leads and nurturing my prospects. Sidenote: This conference is the real deal.
Wow. This is how you conference. #icon15. A video posted by Greg Hickman (@gjhickman) on
My biggest takeaway from ICON was the power of combining a lot of the mobile marketing services we offer with the automation and CRM of Infusionsoft.
Combing mobile messaging with Infusionsoft allows small businesses to execute intelligent mobile campaigns very similar to what bigger brands are capable of doing.
I’ll be exploring how I can leverage this to grow my business in the coming months which I’ll be sharing more of as I talk to more Infusionsoft customers.

Things In The Works
Coming out of ICON I’m updating my product offering to include a paid discovery offering that allows us to create a service that is a 30 day project to deliver an executable roadmap to diving into mobile.
I’m going to be ironing out the details of this more in April as I talk to more prospects to see if this is something that will resonate a bit more and ease new customers into a monthly commitment.
Additionally, we’re going to be moving from using HelpScout to Teamwork Project Management. This will allow us to combine help desk and a client project management tool which will cut down on email communications and keep our client/team communications in one place.
Goals For April
- Bring on 2 new clients
- Finish my presentation for the conference I’m speaking at in Vegas next week.
- Update the website with new copy to explain our products, services, pricing and our process.
- Deliver a successful presentation and generate new prospects from my speaking engagement.
- Post a job offer for a Business Development Rep to help with the outbound efforts and lead qualification calls.
- Bring on a writer to help produce content for the blog
