Growing up I was very big into poetry. I’d read it, and I’d write. A lot. One of my favorite poets has always been Maya Angelou.
Recently, she passed away and I reflected on all the times she’s impacted my life through her writing.
In 2008, I had gotten a tattoo that represents my favorite stanza of my favorite poem by Maya Angelou, Still I Rise.
Today’s podcast short (short episode) is my thank you for this wonderful poem.
Now, I actually wanted to get the whole stanza on my arm but after working with a designer and tattoo artist, I realized it wouldn’t look exactly the way I wanted it to.
The stanza reads:
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.
